The Post-Accutane skincare routine

It’s been about five months since I ended my Accutane treatment (I stopped with a few months to go because I moved to the UK for school) and despite the rude friends that popped up this week, my skin has remained surprisingly clear! I’ve changed a few things in my skincare routine since my last post because back then, I was dealing with dry, peeling skin that really needed careful attention and buckets of moisture. Now, I’m working with SUPER oily skin that I’m worried could break out at any moment (old fears die hard). Despite the addition and subtraction of certain products, the biggest change I’ve made is in how I perceive my skin and its imperfections. Cheesy, I know, but it’s true; I no longer freak out at the sight of a pimple, nor do I attack it with every blemish-fighting product in my arsenal. I want to preserve my clear and youthful skin because I really appreciate it and how far we’ve come (Accutane wasn’t super intense for me, but it definitely was a journey). That being said, I have realised that the more you mess with acne, the longer it lingers in the form of a scar, a red mark, a crater or even just staying on your face longer, which is why I have a streamlined and effective skincare routine in place these days.

Play! by Sephora | May 2016

We need to talk about the new Play packaging because it’s no longer a box that I have to recycle every month. Now, the items are coming in these chic white bags with black drawstrings, perfect for toting around things in your handbag or during travel. Also really good for storing jewelry. They’re less bulky and much more useful than their boxy counterparts. This month’s bag has a special lipstick design mirroring the one on the boxes. As for the contents, this has been my favorite bag by far. Also, massive apology that this is nearly two months late – things were really busy and I didn’t have time to test everything properly before reporting on this month’s products, and I always like to give as full a review as poss. Anyway, here’s a glimpse into May’s box:

Review | Play! by Sephora April 2016

As April is my birthday month, I had really high expectations for this month’s box. No, Sephora isn’t going to make a better box just for me, but they did actually pull through and give me a Play! box that I loved! There were so many high end samples in this month’s box and a lot of things that I’ll definitely get a lot of use out of now that the weather’s warming up and my skin is drying up.
