2015 Favorites

2015 was the year of perspective. I had so much fun really discovering the world of makeup the past two years, spending waaay more money than I ever needed to. This year, I was thoughtful and really asked myself whether or not something was worth the extra expense. I cancelled all of my beauty subscriptions (until Play! by Sephora came around..heh) and I redirected my efforts to skincare rather than just focusing on makeup, showing a ton of restraint (even when Hourglass released those pieces of art known as the Exposure Modernist Eyeshadow Palettes). That being said, I really discovered a lot of gems and feel like I am closer to getting that perfect concealer and the best foundation for me. I didn’t break it down by specific category this year, rather just looked at my collection and picked out the things I enjoyed most throughout the year. Now that I’ve harped on for ages in the intro, I’ll try to be quicker in my descriptions of my 2015 faves.

From splurging on a MAC pigment (one of very few fully priced items in the batch) to the annual Sephora VIB sale, here’s what I’ve been buying:

Top Picks | Autumnal Lip Options 2015

The leaves are changing and Zara’s given an update to their blanket scarf collection. Yes my friends, autumn is upon us (despite the fact that Texas is holding on to 90 degree weather). I will wear a dark, berry-toned lip on the hottest and sunniest of days, most likely also paired with an entirely black ensemble, but it is truly the crisp fall air and freshly sprung pumpkin patches that bring out the bold lips. Here’s the round-up of shades I’ve been sporting/feel are the ones this season, shockingly half of which are orange-based.

Summer Favorites

Hello! It’s been a while since my last favorites post, but because I had to be selective with my makeup  collection during my summer in London (read: I left behind two single eyeshadows and like, five lipsticks) and I was being a bit more experimental with my look and I have some new faves! I also did a bit of shopping and the purchases were so good. Most of the stuff comes from Cristina’s visit to me in London so soz if every post says, “When Cristina was in London….” but that’s life!
